Increase in traffic in first half of 2014 on the GPMD

The good start to the year in the field of general cargo and dry bulk traffic announce for the first half up by 10% a tonnage of 23 Mt, a lead of more than 2 million tonnes from the same period of 2013.

The ferry traffic is up 14%, with a tonnage of 6.70 million tonnes, compared to last year. The number of trucks and trailers is up 17% with 278,000 freight units. Passengers and cars were up 6% and 4% (1,013,000 passengers and 262,000 vehicles).

The number of containers was 154,000 TEUs, an increase of 17%. The mineral trafficking carries a good first half with a 20% increase (6.70 Mt). Coal traffic has a tonnage of 2.08 Mt, down 27%. Grain exports are already rising at the end of June to 1.33 Mt, an increase of 185%. On the crop year, which runs from June 2013 to June 2014, the tonnage exported via Dunkirk totaled 2.408 million tons, setting a record high. The “small” dry bulk were up 9% to 1.38 Mt petroleum products were down 8% to 2.52 Mt and other liquid bulk decreased by 12% to 340 Kt. Overall, liquid bulk were down 8% to 2.86 Mt
